Website maintenance requirements should be planned in to your website development.  Will you maintain your website or will it be done by a developer?

Many websites are created and seldom updated unless contact information changes.

Some websites occasionally have online material updated, such as company announcements.  Other websites need frequent updates, i.e., sales promotions, event calendars.  Depending on the answer to this question, you need to plan for the cost of continuing maintenance.

If your update frequency is daily or even more often, you should consider a content management system (CMS) that allows updates directly into a database rather than updating HTML pages.  CMS systems dynamically generate html pages based on client requests.

CMS Systems are available commercially or through Open Source (free) software.  Any of these will need to be custom configured for your domain and website.
